nope, i think that psu would be cutting it waaay too close. just out of curiosity how many amps does it have on the +12V rail?

I have the same PSU in one of my Dells. They don't give much info, but it has 2 +12v rails at 18 amps each. Not sure where, but I heard that they are rated at 22amps combined. This isn't enough for the X1950pro (30 amps) so I doubt it would work for the X1950GT.

I just purchased that card from newegg over the weekend and I'm in just about the same situation.

When it shows up (hopefully tonight or tomorrow) I'll be sure to let you know how it goes.
From what I've read the box says a 450W power supply, and I've only got a 400W PSU. Although my PSU still doesn't have a lot of extra power on the 12V rail either. I think it was around 26A total.

I ran the numbers on a few of the PSU calculator websites and they came up at about 360-380W required depending on a few unknowns (such that my PSU doesn't give an effeciency that I could see without pulling it out, and they have calcualtions for capacitor aging and such, which are just guesses)

A powersupply like this is getting favorable reviews: note one recent poster has a set up similar to yours with the 7600GT.

The closer to the minimum you get, the faster the PSU wears out (in general). I would recommend 500W to be sure... and there is a lot of marginal stuff out there.

how about the 7600GT? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814122009

System Requirements: A minimum recommended 300W system power supply required.
a 1950 gt is much faster, and cheaper lol
and the 30 dollars he saves can buy him a new psu!

:D

This Power Supply only has 18 amps on a single 12v rail so that would put him in the same situation- an under powered PSU.

Add this Video card PSU to your system then you wont have to worry about enough power and you could still use it when you upgrade your system.

I don't wanna see posts about toasting the parts in 3-6 months. That would make suicide silence VERY happy. 4TR, 1950gt for $105 and an $80 XClio GreatPower 500W.
