Hi guys,
I have the Motorola 5100 STB with comcast service. I have the limited basic
plan + HDTV. When the service tech first installed it, he said that I had
stumbled into a loophole in that because I had the digital receiver, I would
get the expanded channels too, because they didn't have a way to turn it off
with this tuner. Sure enough, I had 2-150ish even though I was only paying
for 2-30.
Well recently, I called comcast about another issue and in reviewing my
account the tech said, 'oh i see your box does not have the expanded
channels restricted. let me fix that...' And that was the end of free
expanded channels. So my question is; is there a way I can reset the box?
Maybe I'll get the channels back? Thanks!

Yup, it is called paying for the services that you are receiving and
enjoying. Otherwise it can be considered theft and you will be not very
happy at their resolve regarding that possibility.

Nope. It's managed at their end. It was good while it lasted.
