Stuck on Configuring Updates

So as some of you know my old motherboard went, so i bought a new one and took the opportunity to upgrade my processor and ram. So i did a fresh re-install of Vista x64 Home Premium. I downloaded some updates those worked fine, went back and downloaded some more, installed them, did a restart but it gets paste stage 1 of configuring the updates, but it gets stuck on stage 2, at first the little loading circle works, then hangs, works, then it just stops. I have booted from my vista CD before done 2 restores, and tried again. Now i don't know the KB # of the update causing the freeze.

Would it help to just do another fresh re-install.

AMD Phenom II x6 1055 2.80GHz
Asus M4A77T/USB3
ATI HD5850 1GB GDDR5
8GB OCZ 1600MHz RAM
1TB WD 7200RPM HDD
700W PSU

Hi.

Can u long on in safe mode? If u can check in add/remove programs for the last updates uninstall it and after that install one by one to know the problematic update.

I havent tried that, i did restore, but ive been trying to do single updates and they all seem to freeze

Don't use the automatic updates, select updates in the menu and select custom updates here u can select one per one.

i have been ive tried a couple single updates, they have all frozen :-/

Download and install .NET frameworks 3.5, reboot the rig and try again.

Well i wouldnt be able to reboot since when i do it tries to install updates

tried it, doing setup the .exe crashes

Sorry for double post, but i also tried download/installing a single update (KB980195) from the microsoft download center, and that failed.
