Hi y'all,

I just downloaded Firefox 7 and figured I'd give it a spin. I use Chrome, but I wanted to see what Mozilla did in their latest release. All I can say is, Wow. The speeds I'm getting are so much faster than Chrome's that I think my Chrome is unnaturally slow. Granted, that this isn't a clean machine, any there were some things going on in the background, but still, the difference is huge. Here are the speeds -
Sunspider - http://www.webkit.org/perf/sunspid [...] river.html
Firefox 7 238.3ms
Chrome 14 755.6ms

IE test bed - http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/Views/SiteMap/
FishIE tank (FFox and Chrome running simultaneously)
Firefox 7 - 1000 fish 26fps
Chrome 14 - 100 fish 21fps

Particle Acceleration (FFox and Chrome running simultaneously)
Firefox 7 - 5904
Chrome 14 - 2925

These test were all run at least twice. I think my Chrome is slower for some reason.
Can anyone run one or more of these tests and post the results? Thank you

personally i use chrome so i have not updated firefox in a good while so if its of any interest i will put results for both my old version and new :D

interesting results, mine seem to also kinda point to firefox surpassing chrome in speed, not as largely as your results show and as for the particle score, im not sure how the score gets determined but chrome scored higher tho running slower

i myself dont think im gonna be changing off to firefox on these results tho i keep both installed just incase

here are the results i got when i ran those same test :

Chrome:

RESULTS (means and 95% confidence intervals)
--------------------------------------------
Total: 261.9ms +/- 5.0%

FireFox v3:

RESULTS (means and 95% confidence intervals)
--------------------------------------------
Total: 758.1ms +/- 5.4%

FireFox v7:

RESULTS (means and 95% confidence intervals)
--------------------------------------------
Total: 245.7ms +/- 1.9%

Chrome:

20 Fish / 1280x961 = 43FPS~

FireFox v3:

20 Fish / 1280x898 = 17FPS~

FireFox v7:

20 Fish / 1280x959 = 60FPS~ /// 250 Fish = 40FPS ~

Chrome:

1980x961 DrawTime: 47ms FPS: 21 FPS Percent: 35% Callback Efficiency: 3.45% Score: 7249

FireFox v3:

1280x898 DrawTime: 350ms FPS: 2 FPS Percent: 5% Callback Efficiency: 0.99% Score: 198

FireFox v7:

1280x959 DrawTime: 7ms FPS: 60 FPS Percent: 100% Callback Efficiency: 1.07% Score: 6400

add:

oh and im not sure how much of a impact this had on each browser tho when running those test i had facebook and these forums open in chrome and nothing on firefox, also i use chrome daily and have for month and firefox i dont use rely much at all and it updated from 3 -> 7 right before update, idk how much that'd effect

I have tried many browsers and find the best by far is Mozilla Firefox. It has more features, good add-ons, and plug-ins compared to Chrome. Thanks for sharing the great information.
