Basically the Nvidia drivers the newest 94.24 arent cutting it performance wise. Can anyone reccommend any better drivers that would squeeze me out a little more performance?Im debating on buying another one of these cards for more performance but im hoping a simple driver change would aid me a little bit and plus i dont have the money right now. Most games run fine i've just recently been hitting 27 and even the teens (around 18!) on Insurgency HL2 mod and i want to at least bottom out a nothing lower than 30.
System specs:
processor: Intel core 2 duo e6400
Gfx: Evga 7950GT 256 mb (i overclocked to : [core 620/mem 841] )
ram: 2 gigs G.skill ddr2 800
mobo: Asus 650i
drivers dont make a huge difference since thats an older card
but, if you decide to buy another card, BUY A 8800 gts, its only like 20$ more than a 7950 gt now lol
yeah but its a marginal difference between performance i just built this rig less than 6 months ago.I want to know if anything such as the omega drivers or extreme G drivers for the 7950gt are better.
I got hold of a rma evga 7950gt 512 SC KO , my experience of nvidia drivers is that they do not like to be changed. They need to be sweeped out by some utility which could be hit and miss. My card which is going back is a good value but it has major memory problems ie artifacting. I can not understand the quality control at Evga. However proper reinstallation of drivers would yield results of overclocking in benchmarks rather than just overclocking.
Bfg FTW.
i also play the insugency mod and have a bfg 7950gt oc. 70-100+fps
but i am only playing at 1280x1024.
what is the resolution you are playing at?
becasue if it is on a 20 or 22" widescreen you may benifit from the 512mb model.
yup i got the same thing with those drivers, however the image quality is superior to the previous drivers.it now seams to handle dynamic lighting and bloom effects much better
