video card power consumption

Why don't video card specs. show how much power they consume? Where can I find this information easily. I'd like to consider the power consumption when I go to purchase a card. Thanks

Go to the main site, either nVidia or ATI. Type in what card yoyu have or are getting, and read up on it. Theres usually a recommended power needs listed there.
