Whats next? I noticed that the 8800 series is over 1 year old. I'm thinking of buying a new card but not sure if I should wait. I'm betting the next gen of cards will perform in dx 10 alot better. What do you guys think?

Some talk about the 8900 coming out. Not sure when... someone else might know that one.

That being said, I don't know if Nvidia really needs to put out another card just yet. The 8800 is arguably still the best card out there... under they get unseated from their throne, there's no need to.

They can take their time perfecting (like a product ever gets released perfectly) their next-gen cards.

The 8800GTX came out in November 2006, so it's not even a year old yet. From what Nvidia has been saying, it sounds like they're no longer going to do a 8900 and plan on going straight to the 9800GTX in Q4 2007.

Well too late for that concern, they already burst that bubble with the GF8500 and GF7500LE before it.

Rememebr the Radeon 7500 and 8500. Most people just think a little more fondly on the R9800 and also think of the hgih end first though.

From what I've read the 700 series chipset is going to come out sometime before the end of the year and then the G90's will come out just after that. Who knows the G90's might end up being the 8900, then they could also squeeze in something like an 8700. Too much guessing to know anything.
