Having a bit of a connection issue with a game. (Dark age of Camelot specifically) I constantly go linkdead and their online support says I should upgrade router firmware (done) and my onboard ethernet drivers. (in process of and I am using onboard lan)

I have an old Asus A8N5X http://computers.pricegrabber.com/ [...] /12043915/

According to this link I am using Nforce4 drivers so could I safely use these from nvidia? http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_nf4_winxp_6.39

Here are the links to Mythic support that I read maybe some added info is hidden here: http://support.darkageofcamelot.co [...] php?id=305 and here: http://support.darkageofcamelot.co [...] php?id=345

Also, the support pages mention I use the software Hypertrace to see where I lose the connection. http://www.analogx.com/contents/do [...] htrace.htm

But what I don't understand is what to do with that information. I used it and it times out after a several jumps. But how does this help.

Thanks any tips would be appreciated. The support pages also recommend leaving onboard ethernet behind and buy a separate nic. Since its an older computer I completely forget what version of the nforce I have and I am not sure if I am doing this correctly

Any thoughts?

Register or log in to remove.

Try a different netowrk cable. If using a router take it out of the config to check it. If it still fails buy a pci nic card and see if problem is fixed. If so then its possible the nic is going bad on the motherboard.
