Install os on hdd for another comp

Hello,
I am having trouble installing windows vista ulitmate on an old comp. It keep getting me the blue screen of death with different error codes.

I want to try to install windows on a new hdd on my new comp and put that in the old comp.

Is there a way to do that so the old comp with recognize the files properly.

What you want to do won't work. You first need to find the reason it won't install.
The errors you are getting could well be related to faulty hardware.
Installing on another pc and then try to get it working on the old one, would only add to your troubles as the new pc will have different hardware and require different drivers.
And why did you post this in the Windows 7 forum and not Vista?

new comp is 7 and old comp is vista

You were asking about Vista, no mention of W7. However that doesn't alter anything in regards to what you are trying to do. It just makes it less likely to work as it is a fairly new pc.
