If you're talking about monitors with a built in tuner they tend to be overpriced. If you're talking about using a tv as a monitor they've gotten better in that they have faster refresh times and higher resolutions. If it is a 1080p tv with a good refresh time that works. If it is one of the lower priced or older models at 1366*768 I'm not sure that I'd want to go that route.

Im Using a Toshiba 42" REGZA 42HL167 LCD TV that lets me run at 1920x1080 I like it but the screen is a bit bright for me and it doesn't seem as sharp as the Westinghouse 42" monitor I had that I loved but it is apparently not being made any more. (the second HDMI input on it only worked after the unit had been on for 10 minutes)

I have to say, for gaming and casual web browsing I like the larger screens.
