I just built a new pc and I'm preparing to install an operating system. Components include I5 processor quad core, nvidia gtx275, asus p7p55d motherboard... My issue is that I don't have windows 7 os... only xp. Is it ok to use for now and upgrade later? Will I run into problems later if I do?

You won't run into problems per se... but just remember before you upgrade to back up your data. Also, have any programs you need to install at hand because you will need to reinstall them. You won't be able to do an "in-place" upgrade, you will be doing a clean install. Your documents and settings folders will be backed up in a folder called Windows.old, but it never hurts to have another back up just in case.
