Thanks for the help and sorry bout the wall of text
I bought my computer a few years ago and recently it seems to be running new games slowly even after a fresh hard drive wipes. I've read various customer reviews for my processor and video card and everyone seems to praise these parts for running games such as skyrim and battlefield 3 smoothly on max settings. I was hoping someone could point out what I'm doing wrong here because that isn't the case for me as I frequently hit 9-15 FPS on low settings with BF3. Skyrim is much smoother on medium but still choppy in open areas with some detail. I've even been noticing some slowness with the Black Mesa remake as well. Here's my build.
Win 7 x64
1 Terra drive
Processor: AMD phenom II x3 720 processor 2.8GHz
Memory: 2g x4 of ddr3 ram
Monitor: 1280 X 1024 32bit 60hz
I've heard rumors about unlocking some potential for my build by overclocking the card and processor and unlocking the 4th core. Would it make the difference and how would I unlock that 4th core? Or should I just go out and buy another of my vid cards and crossfire them? Should I also buy a new processor? I'm looking to run current and outcoming games in medium to high graphics with 35+ fps as cheaply as possible (college student). Thanks again.
