In Windows XP I click on Start then Programs and all the programs are gone

When I go to Programs, where I did have 3 columns of programs, I now have only a few installed programs showing. If I go into C Drive and check they are there but the list is gone from the Programs tab under start. How do I get the lists back?

Some menus hide rarely used options, is there a small arrow at the bottom of the menu? if so try clicking it, or just leave the menu open for a few seconds and see what happens.
