My laptop has SVGA and S-Video out, but no DVI-out. So I was wondering if
there's anywhere I can find a Cardbus/PCMCIA video card that has a DVI output
on it. There seem's to've been one popular one out there, which is now
discontinued, and all the other things I've found (cardbus or firewire outputs
going to a box with multiple DVI outputs) seem to be geared towards high-end
corporate presentations, and not home video.
Anyone know of any such beast? Google results are disappointing.

That would mean losing much of the precision in the original signal.
It's not the getting of DVI output only, but preserving the accuracy
of the image.

Such a cable doesn't exist, at least none that will make the analog VGA
signals into digital DVI data.

If your TV has a DVI input, you can use an SVGA to DVI cable. I use one
in my setup (laptop to TV) and it works great.

I'll have to take a closer look at the cable I use to hook up my laptop to
my tv

That, my friend, is an SVGA to SVGA cable that just happens to have one end
configured to use the SVGA pins on a DVI-I connector instead of the HD15
connector.
It does not support digital signalling, which appears to be what the OP is
seeking.

Plus, as mentioned, I want to preserve the integrity of the video images
that are being created in the card's memory; I would think that DVI, being
digital, would be a one-to-one represenatation of the card's idea of the
image, and thus wouldn't lose anything in clarity of precision when shown
on the LCD display I'll be using.

If the interface is DVI-I, it has analog on the extra pins arranged in a +
on one side. Most consumer electronics don't use the analog option, but
many computers have it.
