I recently installed winXP on my computer, and it runs fine, except 3dmark2001. Red faction won't run either. they both say that i have to install directx 8.0. i have directx 8.1 installed. I downloaded directx 8.0a for windows2000 and installed it, but my DX version still reads 8.1 ..... is there any way i can uninstall directx 8.1 in winXP???

Red Faction won't run on my XP system either. I contacted the developers and they told me that Red Faction isn't supported on Win2000 (in other words, WinXP) yet. It's still in BETA.

Did you try running it in 9x compatibilty mode.

Right click the exe file and there should be a compatability option.
