I have a laptop and connect wirelessly to the internet through a neighbor's setup. I would like to add network printing to the laptop. Can I add a router to the laptop for this or is it going to conflict. I have a Linksys print server to use for the printer.

You can but you need to observe some of the setup rules as described here.
Or use a purpose built Access Point.
