Mainstream support retired

The mainstream support retired (XP). Does it stop provide updates to general users? What is extended support? Is that apply for every XP users?

I use vista so I don't know.

Windows XP has entered the extended support phase. This means that critical updates and security fixes will continue to be issued until extended support is discontinued. Driver and any other non-critical updates will no longer be issued... but if you are still using Windows XP, you will still be able to download all updates. Even after MS stops putting out updates for XP, you will still be able to download all the updates to that point... there just won't be any new ones.
