I have an Asus P5N-32E SLI mobo. It comes with only 4 USB ports on the rear panel. There are connects for an additional 6 (3 x 2) on the mobo.

Where do you obtain additional USB connectors to plug into the motherboard? I assume they mount in a rear external slot on your case?

That kind of stuff normally comes with the motherboard.

ASUS customer service phone support, or just maybe your local computer parts store if you live near one.

I have hooked up a couple to the front of my case...

But i would like to add another couple USB ports to the rear of my system. ASUS technical support couldnt help

Are these sort of parts specific for the motherboard manufacturer, or can i find them generically (ex. "usb motherboard header connector" )?

generic usb ports would work just fine.

You can always go the USB 2.0 PCI add in card, if you have available PCI slots they usually come with 4 external USB to a card.

They're easy to find where the M/B plug in type is not so easy to find, and some of the older ones you had to be careful and check the wiring, they were M/B specific.

I have purchased these types of connectors at Best Buy before, but it's been several years, so I don't know if they still carry them.

You can find them on Ebay.
