I've just purchased a new motherboard to replace my old one. I want to move all of the parts from my old motherboard onto my new one. When moving the CPU, will I need to apply new thermal grease onto the new motherboard? Or will the existing grease be enough?
scrap that... do this.
1) heat up the computer with a little use(so the grease is soft)
2) shut er down and remove the CPU so the heatsink and processor seperate easily.
3) remove old grease.. i use a razor blade and some solvent to get er real clean.
4) apply new grease and RE-Install.
