Howdy,

I currently have an antec tp2 550w psu. it does fine for my 7600 gt and amd 3800 (lol), but im about to get a q6600 and an evga 8800 gtx. p5k deluxe mobo, 1 hd, 1 optical. could my 550w cut it? its got 36a total on the 12v rails. if i do need an upgrade, i dont know whether to get just a bit more/what i need or to go crazy and future proof it with closer to 1000w. im loking at the silverstone st75f 750w right now, maybe a thermaltake toughpower 700/750. I definitely want modular cabling, active pfc, and support for sli is a plus but not necessary.

so any thoughts?

i really like the look of the st75f, was going to use it in my build, but it didn't have enough power for 2 gtx, + OC qx6700, but for your needs it would be great

im wondering if itd be worth getting an even more powerful psu. i do want to oc my q6600 as much as i can. and be stable. and the possibility of two gtx's exists down the road. i got the tp2 550w with my 7600gt and i regret it cause it was a waste of 70 bucks if i need to upgrade again now. id like to have a psu that i wont have to upgrade for years. but id like to spend as close to or below 200 as possible. maybe the toughpower 850w? what about the OCZ ModXStream OCZ780MXS 780w? or the silverstone st1000 1kw? oh and do i need to worry about the 6 or 8 pin pci-e thing? my gtx has two 6 pins i think, so 4 6 pins would be needed for sli, but whats the 8 pin for? the 2900xt? future gfx cards?

thanks
