A friend of mine bought a 2900XT which has two power connectors ; one 6 pi and one 8 pin connector.
The card comes with two 6 pin to 4 (12V) pin connectors , does he has to put both connectors in even though 2 pins aren't used from the 8 pin?

Yes, the card needs both plugs to function. What PSU does your friend have? If it does not come with 6 pin PCI-e connectors it's probably not one of the newest or powerfull ones. Make sure the 12v rail has enough amps to supply the card with enough power. As for the 8-pin, these are needed when you want to OC. Asfar as I understand the card disables OC-ing from control panel if the 8 pin is not connected.

He has a Zalman ZM600-HP (600W) which has two PCI-E connectors.
The card came with the two connectors mentioned earlier.

Ok well that PSU should be good enough :D When you mentioned those adapters I thought it meant his PSU didn't come with those. You're still gonna have to connect both of those 6 pins though or it will run out of power with demanding games.
