How much of a difference in terms of real world performance are we talking here?

Let's say, I am playing CS:S, WoW, Battlefield, etc. on a 1680x1050 monitor?

Personally, I think GTS 640 is more than enough but what are your opinions? I don't plan on playing future games such as Crysis.

My guess would be about 10 more frames per sec give or take, depending of course on your resolution,Cpu memory etc. Thats what I think I would see If I upgraded to a GTX playing the same games and settings.

Looking to the future IF you have to buy now id get the 8800GTX as im planning to do( im debating the ultra though ) simply because in a years time it still should be a great card( way too early to say as DX10 stuff is just comming out ), if you can wait id recommend waiting until the G90 is out at christmas, it will be around 2x more powerful than the 8800GTX which will either bring the current prices down or give you more options( its upto to ATI if they can get their ass in gear to give nvidia some competition )

The 8800GTX is expensive indeed. If the G90 is 2x more powerful I would wait for it. The again, if you don't mind fpr DX10, the GTS would make a fine choise. Just shop around for them lowest price.

i was just about to get an 8800 series card, and then noticed... do i really need it?

as of now and todays prices, like everything, is too expensive at the moment. im currently planning on getting G90 (if it lives up and when it comes out), or an 8 series around christmas.

in your situation, i'd wait till christmas to see what comes around. good luck.

In Terraflops its supposed to be X2 as fast, real life performance, it will be only speculation until a ew weeks after its released and some decent benchies come out

The iPhone's battery is soldered into place. Thats OK if you drop it, it won't fall out. How much will it cost to swap?
