Hello I am building my first pc. I do research everyday on what to get. I think I did pretty good except for the mobo :( .

1. EVGA 680i (NF63) SE this mobo was designed specifically for the Core 2 Duo Oc'er which is good for me, but it doesnt support the Core 2 Quad very well.

2. Intel C2D E6750 when it comes out

3. 2GB Patriot eXtreme performance DDR2 800 RAM

4. EVGA 8800GTX superclocked graphics card

5. WD Caviar SATA 2500KS SE16 hd possibly a WD Raptor 74GB for my few games and os down the road

6. On my optical drive I am open to suggestions. I am looking at the Sony/NEC Optiarc AWG170S-B2 SATA drive

7. ZEROtherm BTF90 cpu cooling hoping I will be able to oc stable to at least 3Ghz

8. Corsair 620HX psu

9. Windows Vista Home Premium 32

10. XG Viper 2 case but probably buying a NZXT Zero

11. X-Fi XtremeGamer FPS

I have already bought my RAM, Mobo,CPU cooler,Case, and the 2500KS

any sudgestions are very much appreciated

I wouldn't get the superclocked version of the GTX, you can do that yourself. Also get Vista 64 not 32, unless you feel like buying another vista OS down the road. I'd drop the X-Fi unless you REALLY care about sound and you REALLY have a nice sound system.

Other than that, I think it could last you a good 1.5-2 years before an upgrade.

Should last 6-8 years depending on the power supply. Once it is useless for games then you can always use it as an HTPC or file server.

i dunno... i would go with XP pro32 and get Vista 64 one day when its actually required.

As it stands i have XP pro32 dual boot with Vista64.. i NEVER use the vista although it is pretty nice to look at, i like XP Pro better.
