I currently have 2 2900 xt's in crossfire on an intel dbx2 motherboard and 1 kilowatt psu and my system is running beautifully. SO Since I am using a 30 inch dell monitor i wouldnt mind some extra frames in games fully maxed out so i decided to overclock my video cards with the simple ati overclock utility in the drivers. It easily gets me 858 mghz core and 900 mghz memory. My problem is as soon as I start up a game my system freezes. The reason it freezes im guessing is from overheating. I noticed whenever i start up a game my video card fans dont even spin up to cool the vpu like they normally do. it just freezes b4 they even spin up. Is there anyway I could get them to spin up before it freezes or is this not even my problem?
while the overclocking utility runs it actually take them to those temps and they run perfectly because the fans just speed up, so I dont understand why it just doesnt do that in game.
when you clock em up to that speed, they may be running at that speed but not be under load, when you put any kinda load on them they'll error and crash, as per what is happening
