I plan on buying the Q6600 on July 22nd I was just wanted to know what memory you guys recommend I should get. Since the Q6600 has FSB of 1066 I have read that all you need, to get the Q6600 to its full stock performance, is DDR2 533. However I am thinking about overclocking the Q6600 and I was wondering if I should get DDR2 800 or DDR2 1066? Your opinions and recommendations are greatly appreciated.

The Q6600 works on a 9X multiplier and your mobo is running at 266FSB. If you buy DDR2 800 RAM and set it to DDR2 533 you can OC your mobo by about 100MHz. This will have your DDR2 800 RAM running about at spec. Now if we multiply 366 by 9X we get about 3.3GHz this is not the max of the Q6600 which can do 3.5GHz on air but is a good OC. The max OC for the average builder is highly unlikely so DDR2 800 should do fine.
While the same can be done with DDR2 667 by starting at DDR2 400 the future price of memory upgrades will favor DDR2 800. The price of DDR2 1066 is quit high and is most likely to be skipped for DDR3 as DDR3 mobo's are already coming. DDR2 1066 may end up in the same boat as DDR 500.
It will depend also on the stepping of the Quad you'll get by this 22nd... If you'll get the newer G0, a DDR2 1066 is what you'll gonna get, cause it can overclock high as ES chips are concerned and past the bandwidth of DDR2 800. Well. with just DDR2 800 you can push that quad to 3.6 Ghz which can be attained by fsb*cpu multi=400*9.. And also at that speed, your quads' gonna get smokin... But then again it will depend on your CPU's stepping, if you can get one with a G0, you can think of a higher clocked RAM and go nearer the 4 Ghz barrier(if attainable)...
My 2 cents....

So basically I am thinking I should go with some good DDR2 800 memory for sure. But if I want to possibly really overclock my system I could go with the DDR2 1066 to be safe. Also, I would like to add I really don't have a set budget.
