Guys,
When I run Far Cry under windows Vista the FPS is slightly lower than running under XP approx 5-10. not a problem I expected a slight drop anyway. The thing is if I reduce the resolution to say 800x600 I still get the same FPS on the same part of the game. However if I increase it to 1600x1200 still Exactly the same FPS. If I drop the water from Ultra High to Very High it does increase the FPS. Can anyone explain why it doesn't alter on the resolution.
(I have installed Windows Vista Business and registered it. I have then updates all the drivers from the Manufactures website with Vista Drivers. Far Cry patched to verison 1.4 everything maxed out at 1280x1024)
seems like the game isn't limited by the video card, more the cpu or ram, because when you put more stress on your video card, performance stays the same, but when you relieve stress from other parts (turn settigns down) you get higher fps

hmmmm...the only other thing that comes to midn just now is v-sync, but that doesnt explain why your fps rises when you lower the water quality. Just check it any way, and see if your game has vsync enabled. If it does, disable it to see if that does anything.

Oooops! sorry I forgot i'd already considered this and I took Vsync off. Still no bloody difference. I think my CPU should be able to feed the GS+ but i'm thinking maybe the vista driver is not all that optimised, maybe it will improve with time when more optimised drivers become available. Any other suggestions? Thanks for your ideas so far.
