I think I have what I need but just looking for confirmation on the components - looking for the best bang for the buck but the ability to go bigger faster in the future.

I have a Power Supply, Case, HDD, and the rest of the goodies already that I'll reuse. I'm looking to upgrade my Asus K8V/AMD 64 3400+/1Gb mem/6800GT Nvidia.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 Conroe 2.13GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E6400

OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2N1066SR2GK

ZALMAN CNPS9500 AT 2 Ball CPU Cooling Fan/Heatsink

My biggest questions are in the memory and the cooling fan. I think the rest of it is good. I was going to go for a DX10 card but decided that I don't want to go Vista yet so I'll run DX9 for now.

first off get a e6420, not the normal e6400 as for the memory unless you are doing a large overclock get ddr2 800 not ddr2 1066, the money saved on the memory will probably let you get a 6420 for about the same total price...

Thanks - I checked the e6420 at Newegg and it was the same price as the e6400 - so I switched that out. I also switched to the ddr2 800 which saved about $30.
