Xp install problems

hi i am trying to install xp pro. at first it would hang up with 34 min left on installing devices so i installed on a different computer and then installed hd on new one. it would load to xp logo screen and then a quick flash of a blue screen then restart. anyone have any ideas. i can run pata and sata hd. i am using a pata

Both computers have a different chipset. A quick fix is to move the hard disk back to the computer that you used to install XP and use this procedure to fix it: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314082/en-us

You could probably also try a repair install.

I had a similar problem and found out that my IDE ribbon was not pushed in all the way on the motherboard.
