I currently have a Sapphire Ultimate x1950pro 256mb

And I picked up a 1mos old EVGA 7950 GT KO that is 512mb for $100

They both seem to be roughly the same.

Hmmmm, thats a tough decistion.

What resolution are you gaming at? If its larger than 1680x1050, I'd keep the 7950GT because it has more memory. But if you're gaming at something smaller or equal to that than I'd sell whichever will get the most money. At these lower resolutions, the extra memory has a little effect on performance and the cards are essentially equal.

Best advice I could give here would be to run both cards on whatever applications you use most and decide which one you like best. I know that sounds cheezy and requires a bit of time and trouble to unload and reload drivers, but it really is the only way to know for sure which one runs better on your system.

Good Luck. :wahoo:

PS. angelkiller hit on my thoughts about gaming as well.... :)

Hmm,

I am running a 19" samsung wide screen with a 2ms display at max which is 1440x900

And about the only game I play is CS 1.6, so either vid card is way overkill

Sell the Sapphire Ultimate x1950pro 256mb and use EVGA trade-up program to get EVGA 8800GTS 640MB KO ACS3 or 8800GTX 768MB. If you can get receipt from original buyer and you can register the EVGA 7950 GT KO. All you pay is the difference in costs when card was bought, but you have to do it within 90 days of original date of purchase.
