7900gt + 7950gt?

as the title states, i want to sli my current 7900gt stock : 550 core and 1320 mem to a 7950gt as 7900gt 512mbs are hard to come by. so would it be possible with/without hacked drivers and how hard would it be with hacked drivers?

Not without some BIOS shenanigans I would have thought, I've had a go at trying to Sli a 7900GTO with a 7900GT with no success but I didn't want to go as far as messing with the BIOS's of either card.

Why don't you sell the 7900gt and buy another 7950gt?

i believe they both have the same cores, and with a program called NiBiTor (google it), you may be able to flash the 7900gt to a 7950gt..but the 7900gt's were known to have poor memory and if you flash it it may not be able to reach the 7950gt stock speed.. i'd go for it if you don't care how the 7900gt fairs (you won't use it anyway if you get the 7950gt right? why not go for it?)

Sell the 7900 on eBay and get an 8800.

yes, both of them have the same cores.

as for the memory, is shouldnt matter and will be able to keep up with the 7950gt.

my 7900gt came stock @ 550/1320 ( instead of 450 )so there shouldnt be a problem and im curently running it at 600/1412 anyways so it should be okay ^^!

so if i use the NiBiTor, what would the chance of success?

and yes i have thought about getting the 8800gts but there really isnt any point for me right now as there arnt many demanding games that i play.
