Does anyone have a Blu Ray burner for their PC and what software do you use to play the movies? I read that Power DVD is the one to get. Is it worth it to get one. I found a deal online for a Pioneer BDROM for $289. I have a Gateway 24" 1080p hdcp monitor with a 8800 GTS 640mb hdcp also. Im setting up a media/computer room with full surround speakers and want to see if its worth it and works well. Thanks.

I recently bought a lite on BD Rom (DH-401S) and it came with Power DVD Blu Ray Edition. So far I have tried 2 movies on it, Casino Royale which worked, 2 Copies ofGood Luck Chuck both of which didn't play, instead caused Power DVD to freeze up or display a black screen. I was looking on the site for Power DVD (cyberlink.com) and for support it looks like you have to pay to talk to a human being or you can email them, so that might be a consideration.

I play Blue Ray and HD-DVD on my PC in 1080P...

The software is from Cyberlink. MY HW configuration is below so i won't deal with in detail. My video card, LG drive, and TV are all HDCP compliant. It is required to be able to play Blue-Ray. HD is less strict.

Video Link is DVI to HDMI (PC to TV)
Audio link is optical from PC to my 7.1 receiver

The biggest problem is getting an updated software. The software that came with my LG dirve is outdated. It has no information of my LG drive, and Video Card. The result when i run the Cyberlink Advisor the VIDEO Card, VIDEO Driver, and LG driver are all non compliant.

To make it work you need a patch from Cyberlink. You do this through email on customer support. After 1 or 2 questions and answer and sending your information they will sent me a patch that work.

Take note the update from Cyberlink website don't work. To date if i down load that to my pc i can't watch SPIDERMAN3. Only the patch from Cyberlink made my rig work.

If you have an older video card it may work. In my case i got my 8800GT last december and to date the only software that will work is the patch from Cyberlink.

SPIDERMAN3 is a good test vehicle. If you can play SPIDERMAN3 you all Blue Ray will play.

The problem you describe is the same problem i encountered when i started.

I believe Cyberlink Power DVD 7.3 is great to get. I use that now for standard dvds but it is blu ray compliant. Go here and get your copy. If you have a paypal account you can get it and set it up within minutes...

This is as cheap as it gets and if you dont like it, so what its 7 bucks.

You wont get support if the software is registered multiple times. If you have a new video card just like mine 8800GT chances are you will have issue running Blue_Ray.
