Hey everyone. I bought a Nexxtech external drive enclosure today to put my Maxtor D740X-6L 80GB hard drive in. Well, basically it doesn't work. The drive is showing in device manager, but only as "Disk Drive" and is not showing up in My Computer. I called Nexxtech support and they said that I needed to download the appropriate drives for my HDD. Apparently Seagate owns Maxtor now and I can't find any drivers on their website. Furthermore, Seagate specifies here http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.j...toid=d771781e73d5d010VgnVCM100000dd04090aRCRD and here http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.j...toid=d771781e73d5d010VgnVCM100000dd04090aRCRD that drivers are not needed to run their hard drives, only the drivers already available with Windows. Anyone have any ideas? Besides returning the product...?

No, it's a legacy drive that i've had in my system running as a slave drive. I've decided to go the external/usb route because the slave was running extremely slow, i.e. takes 45 mins to transfer 1GB of data. I know it isn't the drive because I used it as my master drive in my old system and it worked great.

I also tried this and it wasn't listed... the drive only shows up in device manager, and only as "disk drive".

you had the drive running as a slave and it has to be jumpered as the master drive to work in the enclosure.the drive should appear as an external in disk management. is it Model NHDE35 or Model NHDE35B. also sorry for no reply toms doesn't send out reply notifications any more
