Is it worth it?

I'm looking for an AGP video card that is capable of running Counter Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source, and World of Warcraft at 1280 x 1024.

My current system is:
AMD Sempron 3100
1 GB Memory
Nividia TI 4200
Antec Truepower 380 Watts

Is it actually worth it to buy an AGP video card or should I just get a whole new system?

they are not that demanding

A new rig would be good, but if you dont have the budget then just get a 7600 or 1650 card

Unfortunately, I don't really have the money for a new rig as I just bought a new saxophone.
Would a x1650Pro be enough or should I go for a x1950GT?
Also, how much would the Sempron CPU hold my system back with the new video card?

I have about the same system specs as you do, and I have a 6800 and it plays those fine at that resolution. I would go with either the x1650 or the 7600. Either one of those would be fine

I know semprons are weak (a tad better than celeron at most), that's why im bold enough to make that statement, however I don't play any of those games. mostly into new ones :)

the 7600 i know can use HDR, just not HDR and AA simultaneously... though for valve games i believe they use a different technology for producing HDR, which allows simultaneous HDR and AA... i believe anyhow

Agreed. most likely you wont need a new PSU then either, because the 7 series is less demanding than the 6 series.

i was running a similar rig about 10 months ago
exept i was running an athlon 3200+ with a geforce 6600le(yuk).however i was able to run counterstrick at ur required resolution.
i would personally recomend purchasing a lower end cpu such as a single core amd, you can get them really cheap now.along with that you could probably find a bargain on a 7600gt which i found to be the best performance versus price ratio i have ever owned.however, by sticking to the agp mobo u are obviously digging yourself in with some seriously outdated technology
