I've decided I want a larger display for gaming and normal office use, but I'm unsure how my 8800GTX will hold up. I do have an SLI board so I can get a second 8800GTX, but I really don't want to go SLI again unless it's required. If anyone has an experience with running games on a 30 inch LCD I'd love to get your input.

I remember others turning the res down to 1440x900 to make games playable. Keeping the full 2560x1600 for the desktop & older games that get 100+ fps (Farcry1, Grand theft auto, Call of Duty1, etc).
The 1440x900 actually looked good when turned down. (it's near full 1080p)

I will also rather not have SLI, so just wait 12-18 months (for the g100, r700+) then I expect you can play even Crysis in full 2560x1600 on one card.

30" LCDs usually have a 2560x1600 resolution, so you're most likely going to need SLI GTX for anything other than standard office work (i.e. gaming)

I already said I own an 8800GTX, and 1440x900 would be lower than I currently play at. I'm not waiting around for more than a year for new hardware to come out, as something faster is always around the corner. Thanks for the attempt, but it appears as if you didn't even read my original post. :(

I know you have a 8800 GTX. My only point was 1440x900 still looks good on the 3007.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DONT BUY THE MONITOR!!! I have the dell 3007wfp and i have 2 2900 xt's in crossfire and i can max out company of heroes but i get a horrid 30 fps in dx 10 with 8x AA and 16x AF with everything on ultra. Just go with a 24 incher and enjoy how well they scale down or else you'll end up upgrading your video cards every 6 months to keep up with the bastard monitors native resolution.

I agree,
but get the 3007 anyway. That monitor will last a LONG time and 2560x1600 will be normal some day.
It can also double-duty as a good movie monitor to watch all your Divx movies and HD movies. :D
A good 30" can scale down. A 19" can never scale up.

romstar, thats quite odd, i get much better rates than that...

anyway, get the 3007wfp, with a monitor you can always make it small, but never bigger, so buy big, if it is too slow, make ti smaller.
