Virus email??

I recieved an email in the name of a contact and it said, click here to see attached images, so I clicked and it took me to a facebook page.... The full story is long but now I have discovered that this is an email where you click on a link and the link takes you to some virused website that somehow reads all of your contacts and sends them the email in your name, I found this out because all my contacts are asking what the f**** did you send me?
So I want to know what I should do now, what exactly has this email done??
could it have put some virus on the computer?
I am running a scan, but I want to know if it left anything permanent

Could be a virus or a worm. Try running thru the malware guide in my signature.
