Why is this happening? When it boots it says 2.4Ghz. Windows says 2.4Ghz. It says 2.4 when I go into the BIOS But CPUZ is saying only 1.6. Is this just a glitch in CPUZ or my system only truly only running at 1.6.

Who's telling the truth?

Please help.
My MB is an Asus P5K and I have PC2-6400 RAM in dual channel configuration.

It is probably intel's SpeedStep throttling it back try running a few app's and see if it jumps back to normal speed.

Well it should set it to full speed when proccessor is under load and throttle it down when not under load as to save power. However, if you do want to turn it off you whould be able to do so in ur bios.

It's best to leave it on. Speedstep saves power and lets your system run cooler.

However, if you do want to turn it off, there should be two things you have to disable in your BIOS:
EIST - which is Speedstep
C1E - which is an Enhanced Halt State

You've got to turn both of them off.
