7600gt + vista garbled screen

can anyone help me solve the problem I have with these ?

geforce 7600gt + windows vista
It seems to only affect non-3d accelerated gfx. It doesn't appear in games and is mostly OK in vista if I use aero. The above photos are without aero.

Interestingly, I had to take photos as screenshots don't capture the problem.

Tis card used to work OK with XP and doesn't display any problems in post which lead me to think that there is a driver issue.

I have the same problem with a XFX 6800XT card. So I belive it's a driver problem aswell. Anyway Im running Xp again for a while untill Nvidia fixes their vista drivers.

I guess that this problem can't affect all 7*00 owners but they are still selling buckets of them. Surely there must be a fair proportion of people who are buying brand new cards that don't work properly with vista...?

I have a BFG 7600GT GPU and Vista is fine for me. I am Running vista ultimate 64 bit. I don't know if the 64 version has anything to do with the difference but when i installed windows i didn't even update the drivers i used the ones from Windows

perhaps I ought to remove the nvidia driver and reboot, see what happens
