for best protection u need a combination of software, antivirus, antimalware, firewall......every security software like antivirus works different depend the vendor, i suggest u to update all software, plugins, windows ect.....keeping your software updated is a good start to keep windows safe....download secunia PSI to check your computer for software needed updates. go to http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal/ also download malwarebytes go to http://www.malwarebytes.org and for the antivirus, keep the eset one....or try avast http://www.avast.com but keep your software updated always.

ESET is decent security, your friend is wrong here.

BTW, what is your CPU and how much RAM do u have? And your OS?

Paid security, try GDATA it is light on the system and one of the best out there.

Sorry but there's no such thing a the best internet security suite as all of them have there pro's and Con's its all about personal preference,

and witch suites you better. But as for non annoyance i'd go with Norton 2012 rarely requires much attention Also scored it feels abit to controlling for me liking¬

Did you use the Eset removal tool before installing Kaspersky ? Maybe some left overs from Eset. Im using eset from Norton Purely for the HIPS and no slowdown

Anyway You might want to check here http://www.av-test.org/no_cache/en/tests/test-reports/test-reports/ maybe this will help make your mind up
