Ok so im really trying to hit the 3ghz mark w/ my e6600 but am finding it impossible.
i currently run at 2.73 **FSB 1560 Multi 8 vCore 1.32 temps 27c idle to 53c ORTHOS** but i cant seem to get 3ghz no matter what combination i try (FSB 1333 Multi 9, FSB 1500 Multi 8). im only using the stock HSF w/ AS5 but i think i will reapply some AS5 as the temps didn't drop at all from the stock paste stuff. maybe i put too much AS5 on?

either way, ORTHOS always fails at 3ghz. i have to give it like 1.37 vCore for it to last 20mins, but then the CPU temps (coretemp and speedfan) rise to 62C which is way to high for my comfort.
CPU Batch is L644G btw in case anybody is wondering.
I tried running RAM 1:1, and doesnt really help. tried messing w/ the NB voltage, and lower volts seem to give me about a minute longer on ORTHOS.

is there something wrong im missing? it could be obvious as this is my first oveclock. i know i need to get a better HSF, i tried the AC F7, but it hits my PSU in my Raidmax Smilodon case. Im gonna try Zalman 9500 soon.

System:

Intel E6600
G.Skill 2x1GB PC2-6400 5-5-5-15
P5N-E SLI BIOS 401
Nvidia 7950GT 512mb
Stock HSF w/ AS5
160GB HDD
Raidmax Smilodon case

Umm, 62C' isnt too hot at all. You'll be fine as long your load temp keeps under 75C'. Notice that during months your cooler will gain dust which naturally prevents airflow and will make the processor run hotter. Vacuum/clean it constantly.

When you speak about FSB, don't use quad pumped values, but /4 of that. So 1333 = 333MHz and 1500 = 375MHz.
