Hello,

I built my system today! Ive been probing all of you for your opinions on the hardware, and it paid off!

tt va8003bws case
asus p5k deluxe
q6600
zalman 9700nt
2x1gb gskill ddr2-800 4-4-3-5
evga 8800gtx
carried over antec tp2 550w
sata dvd burner
sata 320gb wd hd
buncha fans

I am very happy and the building process was quite exciting.

I am now already looking forward to overclocking for the first time, but I want to make sure everything is ok.

I know lots of ppl think 550w isnt enough, but i did the psu calculation at http://www.extreme.outervision.com [...] orlite.jsp

and even with the cpu oc'ed to 3.2ghz with 1.45 vcore (that was an educated guess based on forums) and an oc'ed 8800, i come to 486w. so i think ill be ok. and its got 36a on the 12v, so i should be fine for power. but please correct me if im forgetting something.

so basically, how do i go about monitoring my temps and making sure all is well. Fan speeds, core temps, and how to oc.

i actually changed the settings in the bios from all auto to 266x9 and 5-5-5-15, pretty much standard, and it wouldnt boot. So i guess im doing something wrong.

I want to make sure everything ios stable and safe now before i oc.

sorry this seems wordy but its my first build and im more excited than freddy krueger at a narcoleptics anonymous meeting.

550 W is plenty as long as you don't have a crap PSU from a crap manufacturer. Antec is good so don't worry about the power. I'd start by reading Graysky's overclock guide and the core 2 temperature guide. Then go to
http://processorfinder.intel.com/
This will tell you the max temperature that your CPU was designed for. This is the TCase temp, so add about 15C to get the max core temp. The fan speed should be automatically controlled by the motherboard depending on your temperatures.

After reading those guides, ask questions about what you don't understand
