I am attempting to breath new life into my sysem, so I got an eVGA 8800GTS and some more, faster RAM, and sinse Gigabyte just unlocked my mboareds overclocking features with their latest BIOS I also would like to pump some more juice out of my CPU to go with the uogrades.
RAM: CORSAIR XMS2 (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)4-4-4-12
CPU: Intel E 6400 with a thermaltake cooler. idels at 25 and load at 34
I found someone had posted an excellent guide with a system very similar to mine only hid ram is slower, sinse I dont understand the basics of overclocking maybe someone can be kind enough to run the figures and tell me what numbers to change?
http://www.neowin.net/forum/lofive [...] 03808.html 7. Enter the MB Intelligent Tweaker (M.I.T.) section and do the following: - Set CPU Host Clock Control to Enabled - Set CPU Host Frequency (MHz) to 376 - Set PCI Express Frequency(MHz) to 100 - Set System Memory Multiplier to 2.00 - Set DRAM Timing Selectable to Manual - Set CAS Latency Time to 5 - Set DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay to 5 - Set DRAM RAS# Precharge to 5 - Set Precharge dealy (tRAS) to 12 Most RAM will actually work at 4-4-4-12 but this is a guide for lazy people so I figured I'd go with 5-5-5-12 since it's bound to work.
I would love to get my processor to 2.9 but would be satisfied with 2,6. Thanks for any and all help!!!!!!
