This is what he sent me..and I don't have a clue but I know you'll know :)

"So for this music software that I'm working with, I need to disable hyper threading. I really don't know much of anything about this, except that supposedly I need to do this in BIOS (don't really know what that is, except supposedly you can access it by hitting F2 during start-up....?). Can anyone tell me how to do this step by step? Will I have performance issues by doing this?

As for info... I run with an Intel Dual Core processor.. the brand is a Gigabyte S-series. I'd be happy to give you any more information you might need, as long as it's not too complicated... I didn't put together this monster, so I only know so much."

C2D processors and MBs do not use hyperthreading. You won't find it in BIOS.

I believe that your friend needs to set CPU affinity for the processes that are associated with his "music software". You would think that he could be a little more specific. Here is how it is done.
1. Open Task Manager
2. Right-click on one of the "associated processes" and choose "Set Affinity"
3. Check the CPU ID (example CPU0, CPU1) that you want the process to run on.
4. Do this for all processes related to the mysterious "music software".
