Sorry if this has been asked before. I searched but couldn't find a relevant thread.

I currently have a cable connection that I connect to through a dlink router and wireless adapter. I get a lot of net lag while gaming so I'm looking at alternatives.

My PC is in a different part of the house to the router so plugging in directly is a difficult option (I'm renting the house so drilling holes in walls etc might not be an option).

This got me wondering about connecting via the mains circuit. I've seen adapters for sale but have no experience of them. Would it be an improvement on a wireless connection? How does it compare to plugging directly into my router?

Ive heard good things about it... though mostly through advertistments o.0

The cheapest (and best) solution would be to buy a nice long CAT5 cable. Should be less than $20 for 100ft

There are a couple of options. One is to extend the wireless network with something like this:

The other is to use the house wiring as your network with something like this:

I would vote for the second option as it is rated faster and less susceptible to interference because you can eliminate the wireless component all together.

My real world experience was several years ago and the powerline adapers were rated at 811.02b speeds. Worked OK and was easy enough to set up.
