I put in a D-Link WDA-23320 wireless PCI adapter. The installation went fine and drivers installed fine, I think. It see the available wireless networks but when I hit connect, it says waiting for network and then stops after a couple mins. It wont connect and its very frustrating. Im using Windows wireless configurator. The funny thing is I was using a D-Link USB adapter and its fine, I wanted to change cause Im having IRQ conflicts with the USB adapter. I want this PCI to work. Any suggestions?
BTW Im running XP
Turn off all wireless security in the router temporarily.
Check you can detect neighbouring wifi (if could before but not now is DLink working ?) -- and try moving to a channel as far as poss from strongest.
Try moving the DLink's antenna or turning the whole computer -- bear in mind that the USB was probably on an extension cable and could be located optimally.
Relocate TV video sender of cordless phone base away from computer or router.
ok, Im running through a Qwest DSL modem that has a wireless bridge. I dont have any security runnin on it in the first place. I can detect other networks. No cordless phone near com or modem. Second, Im taking a college class for A+ cert (I havent messed with wireless a whole lot yet) and we had a lab to install a wireless PCI card. The EXACT same thing happened when I did the same thing on the com at the lab (I was there out of class so I had noone to ask). I was no more than 15 feet away from the router there which was a Linksys, the card was a diff brand, not Dlink. The computer right next to me, I would have been between the router and this com, and it connected just fine so I dont think its a range issue. I cant figure out why the EXACT thing is happening at TWO diff locations with TWO diff adapters and TWO diff router/modem. Again, installation of the drivers went problem free.
As you are at college, try borrowing a fellow student's laptop and see if it can connect to the Qwest setup. If it can, run through all the options in the user interfaces of both computers and see if anything in yours needs modifying.
