For about a year I have had a logitech MX518 mouse and it worked fine, but recently it stopped working. All of a sudden it stopped working and would keep connecting and disconnecting. When I plug it into another computer, it works fine, but when I plug it into my computer my computer makes the sound of something being plugged in, and then something being unplugged and keeps repeating those sounds. I tried to reinstall the logitech drivers and I eventually reformatted but nothing has fixed the problem. I have a ball mouse that works perfectly(besides being a horrible mouse) but my logitech mouse does not work at all. I also have an older logitech(dual optical mouseman or something) that does the exact same thing as the 518. When I plug in the mouse windows recognizes it, but it fails to install. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Chances are the port itself might be screwed up. Have you tried testing it in another usb port? I've had that problem before, and to test it out i just got a usb to ps/2 converter and plugged it in to the ps/2 slot and it worked fine. So worse case scenario, you my need to just do that, unless you want to use this as an excuse to get a new computer.

try a different port as suggested above. Also try reinstall USB drivers and Mouse drivers. Are there any other USB devices that are having problems on this computer?
