I need help in finding a proper power supply for this system. One of the main things that has me locked up so far is not knowing whether I need 6 pin or 8 pin connectors for the video card.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Really only 520w? I figured it'd take 1000w to be comfortable.

A quality 520W PSU covers what you have listed nicely, plus some spare overhead for aging & misc upgrades (another hard disk, etc). Check the Specs tab for the video card on NewEgg (in fact read ALL the tabs for the hardware you get).
If you're thinking you ~might~ want to try SLI 8800GTX look for the 700-750W range. http://www.slizone.com/object/slizone_build_psu.html

6 pin connectors. Look at the accessories list (also look at the images) for both the video card and the motherboard. You're covered.

well that psu has +12V1@18A,+12V2@18A,+12V3@18A..

that won't even cover my video card will it?

video card says:

Minimum of a 450 Watt power supply.
(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 28 Amps.)

that psu would be good enough for your system. The three rails combined need to add up to the recommendation of 28 Amps. I just ordered this one for a little less: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] k=ocz%2b70 0w

It has 4 rails at 18 A apiece so it's even better in case you add another card or more hardware. There's also a 850 W version :)

Are Thermaltake PSUs good?

I don't get that.. the whole adds up stuff with the 12v rails..

Thermaltake good? I am replacing mine if that's any indication.

Several different components use 12v power, when a graphics manufacturer states a suggested amperage they are talking about the whole system not just the card. The PC P&C Silencer 610 would be enough without SLI and if you plan on SLI I would go with the Silencer 750. The Silencer 750 is on Zipzoomfly for $170 for black and less for the copper version with free shipping and is one of the best PSU's on the market.

For a good quick read on PSU's go here:

Remove underscores... and the space between guide- and psu. and you're link should work.
