hello,

i have just built my first ever pc:

intel dual core e6600 2.4ghz
msi platinum 975x
2gb ram
512mb sapphire graphics card
80gb ram
windows vista home
1.44 floppy drive
dual layer dvd lightscribe

when i booted up for the first time, it worked well, went into msdos, set time and date. turned off the computer. turned back on and now it stops at the msi motheboard logo screen, and does not go any beyond.

i press del, esc, f10, f12 keys but nothhing happens.

i have taken the cmos battery out for a couple of seconds and same thing happens when i start up.

any ideas what i can do?

Did you change anything else in the CMOS? Check the Mobo for the pins to reset the CMOS, it should be 3 pins usually with a jumper on the 1-2 pins. Check your Mobo's manual for where the pins are and on how to reset the cmos. Removing the battery does not always reset it. I'd start with this.

Make sure your keyboard is secured, it could have loosened up. Best to use a serial rather than USB keyboard at least until Windows is installed
