Hey, firsly, really awsome forums. Lots of really usefull info, but i cant seem to find any info on/about the problem im having at the moment.

Current set-up:
Intel Core 2 Due e6400 o/c to 333mhz FSB (2.6Ghz core speed, ish)
1g (x512)DDR2 PC6400 (400 MHz) RAM
EVGA NVIDIA GEFORCE 7950 GT 512MB PCIE
EVGA NFORCE 680i SLI MB

The temps seem fine when its fully loaded and idle (36 idle - 53 fully loaded).

Problem:
I read that having my FSB-DRAM ratio set to 1:1 could really improve my performance. I have it set at auto at the moment and its at 5:6 which to be honest, i have no idea if thats good or bad. When i set the ratio to 1:1 and save&exit my comp beeps for around 4 seconds then loads up i 'think' in 'system saftey' mode :heink:.

Any advice or info anyone could give would be most welcome please. Would like to get the max out of the system i have but dont want to go any further , overclocking CPU wise, until i can fix this problem. :)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that Nvidia chipset motherboards for Intel run the RAM independently from the CPU FSB. It's the Intel chipsets that get a slight boost from 1:1. I could be wrong though, I have an Intel chipset :??:

Here's an article that's a good read to explain why there is a benefit to running 1:1.

Set to auto, the motherboard should be reading the SPD settings programmed into the RAM. If your system beeps after setting the RAM ratio to 1:1, there is something definitely wrong. Download and install CPU-Z, check the memory tab and verify what ratio you are currently running when set to auto, post back the results and we'll see if anything looks amiss.

you're only running at CPU:RAM = 2:1 if you run your FSB at 333 and RAM at 333. Since FSB is quad pumped, so in truth you're running 666:333.

You should be able to change your ratio to 2:1.

How would i be able to do that yomamafor1, i can only seem to find Auto /1:1 /3:2/5:6/Sync ratio's available?

Edit: I think putting the ratio to Sync has done it -

Does that look right ?

if you can set your FSB and RAM speed manually, then do so. You should be able to do that fairly easily.

I'm not quite sure what Sync ratio is though.

You can also try updating your BIOS to get more support, as I believe EVGA released their P30 version.

EDIT: I cannot see the image, as my corporate server marked it as "p0rn". = =

Well its at 1:1, running at 333.3 , 5-5-5-13-17 (<-- not sure what that means o_O)
Getting two new 1g sticks soon, it will be find adding them to the x2 512mb sticks i have at the moment with all the messing about i have done right ?

Should be fine. As for your RAM, I believe you can put it at 4-4-4-12 (this is memory latency), under 333mhz, if you have CL5 DDR2-800 RAM.
