Hi,

very quick question, which is preferable, an x1900xt (256) for £82.19 or an x1950pro ultimate (256) for £113.50?

My understanding was the x1900xt was a better card, so the fact it's 30quid cheaper was confusing. I appreciate the "ultimate" version comes with a zalmann cooler which accounts for some of the differential, but is it worth it?

Thanks for any help,
Si

I would go for the cheaper x1900xt it should perform better than the x1950pro and your right your probably paying more for the fan and the x190xt is not being produced any more so that maybe why it discounted. Also my understanding is that x1900xt is a beter ocer than the 1950pro if you plan to do any ocing.

I own an X1900XT and it's absolutely fabulous card for every game I've ever played. Buy the cheaper XT and you'll be a very happy camper until DX10 becomes more mainstream.

The 1900xt is slightly the better card its a couple fps better on most benchmarks i have seen and is clocked slightly higher.
Not sure about power consumption but would expect it to be higher than the 1950proas it is rv580 and the pro is rv570.

That's an amazing price for what is still one of ATI's best cards.

But you can get the X1950 XT for £111 which beats them both doesn't it...

Thats true, but his is 82 pounds while the other is 111, theres not that much difference between the two for such a price

I'm just concerned about that price he found because I can't find the x1900xt that low. Just wondering if it's advertised at £82 but without VAT (seems to be a common trick to attract unsuspecting buyers!!).

I'm sure he'll check that out though first. Cheers Jaydeejohn.

EDIT - and he was willing to pay more for the Pro Ultimate previously. Suppose it depends on the games because the benchies show minor differences between X1900XT in some games and more significant improvements in others.

Heya, thanks for the replies, you guys sure are keen!

The 1900XT I was looking at is discounted from 130quid, and does include vat, yup. Just seems like a bit of a bargain, so I think I will get one of those, but ta for all the other info.

Yeah the x1900xt is a great card and it's supposed to be overclockable to xtx speeds and even beyond. Unfortunately, the one I got can barely be overclocked like 5% and then it starts atifacting and failing in games etc.. mine was an OEM btw so maybe that had sth to do with it. But it performs just fine on stock speeds, and for that price, it's a steal. I got mine for about $300-$350 about a year ago.
