How to make advd of taptop to play on a home dvd player

i can mack a DVD in AVI form on my toshiba laptop but when i want to whatch them on my DVD player in the living room thay will not play

Not all home dvd players can play avi files, you need one that is certified for DiviX.
You will need to convert your avi file to a proper dvd format for playing on home dvd players.
